Calling All WordPress Fans (and Fanatics)!

WordCamp Louisville is looking for incredible speakers to share their love of WordPress. Are you an Expert / Guru / Fanatic about:

  • Building a Plugin from Scratch
  • Creating and Selling a Theme
  • UX Design Tips for WordPress Developers
  • Versioning WordPress Sites using Git
  • eCommerce Best Practices
  • Theme Frameworks: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
  • Creating and Using Child Themes
  • Interacting with WordPress Using FTP
  • How to Add an Online Store
  • How to Create a Membership Site
  • SEO
  • SSL, HTTPS, and All Things Security
  • Building Tools for Better Themes (Grunt, Gulp, Bower, SASS, etc)
  • Using the REST API for new themes and plugins

Then tell us about it at WordCamp Louisville! The one-day event is Saturday, Nov. 12th but the deadline to apply to be a speaker is Sept. 30th.

Don’t feel limited to the topics above! If you have a WordPress topic you’re passionate about and want to share with our community, let us know.

Please read the notes below, but if you’re ready the application is below.

Notes for Your Application

Your presentation, including slides, should be around 30 mins with an additional 10 mins for Q&A.

A few things to keep in mind about presenting at WordCamp Louisville:

    • Speakers at WordCamp Louisville aren’t compensated in any way except with fame, glory, the thanks of the WordCamp Louisville community, and a free happy hour the evening before WordCamp. Travel and/or hotel costs are not covered.
    • Being a professional speaker is NOT required however you do need to know what you are talking about, and the subject must be related to WordPress in some way. Subjects like front-end development, how to manage freelancing, social media, etc., will be accepted as long as you can talk in light of how they relate to WordPress. If your session is broad like that, please make sure you note your submission how your talk is relevant to WordPress.
    • Your session is not to promote your own stuff… theme, plugin or business. If your session is to detail how you USED WordPress code to build some really great aspect of your theme, plugin or business, and you’d like to present that as a case study, awesome! Go ahead and submit your session. But please, sales pitches will not be allowed.
    • You should know how to spell WordPress. And respect the WordPress logo/trademarks. You’ve got to embrace the WordPress license. Note: this is one step above simple compliance, which requires PHP code to be GPL/compatible but allows proprietary licenses for JavaScript, CSS, and images. 100% GPL or compatible is required for promotion at WordCamps when WordPress-derivative works are involved, which are the same guidelines followed on WordPress.org.
    • You can submit multiple speaker submissions for different talks. However most speakers will only be allowed one talk per entire event, so submit your best.
    • If you’d like to propose multiple topics, please submit the form multiple times, once for each topic.

Application

Fill out this form to apply to speak at WordCamp Louisville, November 12th, 2016.

We’re no longer accepting applications for speakers. You can still apply to be a sponsor or register to attend.
